The only Festival I know that you spend the weekend racing Wooly Worms up the strings in the background, that culminates in the prediction of weather for the winter. Move over Ground Hog Festival!

Beech Mountain late fall 1st snow

SnowFall

We encountered an early snow during one of our recent visits to Beech Mountain. This scene was taken mid day in late October at Fred's Mercantile store. I don't think Fred and staff had anticipated the weather event, but their warm veggie soup, tuna salad, and hot cocoa made for a perfect resting spot from our days hike in the snow.
