Rush from stage left
Rush has the best balance of excellent musicianship, non-egotistical character, and inspirational message. Neil Peart (drummer/lyricist), was special in a category by himself. The breadth of his insight and impact was enormous. He observed, engaged, and then interpreted life in a way that you could relate to, and receive life lessons from his lyrics, books, etc. His drumming / percussion proficiency was fusion of so many different influences and genres, always looking for a way to push the envelope of perfection and innovation.
Rush's music was indeed the soundtrack to my life, relating songs and albums to a variety of life's milestones. Practicing early mornings and late nights to learn how to play their music, waiting in lines hours to see their shows, and practicing their philosophy in my daily activities. This tribute is a set of pics (before I became a photog) with an inexpensive point and shoot camera. My daughter Holly and I were invited to not only do a meet and greet with Alex and Geddy, but got to sit on stage with the band the entire Snakes and Arrows show to enjoy the music up close (Thanks again Jennifer Testa). I am thrilled to share my once in a lifetime observations from a unique vantage point as a die hard fan from "stage left". I hope you enjoy this journey of remembrance and honor.

Neil "Pratt" Peart - The professor, a cymbal of perfection
Quick shot of the screen behind Neil. I watched him a lot thru the show, though I could barely see him thru the mass of drum kit. There were a few times we made eye contact, him peering at us from beneath his cymbals. I got the impression that he saw me and my daughter there side by side enjoying the show, and couldnt help but think that made him think about he and his daughter.
